Welcome Letter

Hello Friends,

Welcome to Traphill Elementary School, where in 2026/2027 our Wildcats are “Reaching for the Stars…and Stripes!” This year our students, staff, parents, and community members are focused on goal-setting and goal-attaining in academics, health and fitness, and developmentally appropriate social-emotional skills. Simultaneously, we will spend time reflecting upon how fortunate we all are to live in the United States of America, where everyone can receive a free and appropriate public education to reach their greatest potential. With this past Independence Day being the 250th Anniversary/Birthday of America, we thought it only fitting that we incorporate this into our yearly theme.

Traphill Elementary School is a school with a small student population, but we are HUGE on ideas and dreams. We honor and embrace the best of our past and seek to protect and improve the future for generations in this beautiful geographical area adjacent to Stone Mountain State Park. Our school has managed to fill a very unique niche in the district. Traphill’s highly qualified staff instruct according to the NC Standard Course of Study daily, and the standards are enhanced by unique hands-on opportunities at our school. We have our own well-equipped greenhouse, a school garden, raised beds, a solar grid, and a mini-orchard. Our latest additions to all of these STEM opportunities have been a pollinator garden, our very own bee hives, and updates to our outdoor classroom that we were able to provide with a grant from Keep North Carolina Beautiful. This allows us to host after-school programs incorporating student interest and honoring the culture of our community.

If you are looking for a free public school with a “private school” feel, a lower student:teacher ratio, and a bit of that “old school” feel of a positive, family-type culture where our Wildcat Family members are truly here #1- for our students and #2- for our families and community, then come see what we are all about! You will find yourself feeling right at home.
