Welcome Letter

Dear Traphill Elementary Families,

We hope that your family has enjoyed a safe and relaxing summer.  We are excited to welcome you back to a new school year and are ready to connect with you, learn with you, build with you, and be part of your family’s daily life again.

We strive to be a positive, nurturing learning community where students are inspired to learn, supported to grow, and empowered to achieve. This year, we have chosen as our theme—Building Brighter Futures.  Together with our Wildcat families, we will set goals for growth in all areas of child development- Physically, Academically, and Social-Emotionally. Children grow tremendously in all of these areas between kindergarten and fifth grade, and it is our responsibility to partner with families in supporting our students with positive learning experiences that challenge and inspire them.  We know that what students learn today is essential to build skills and knowledge for a future filled with positive choices.

All children deserve to feel not only welcome at school, but truly valued and appreciated.  Our staff will work to build connections so that every child knows they are a vital part of our school, and that they bring to our school unique qualities and traits only they can offer. Our students help build our climate and culture. They are the most important part of our day.

We know that families are important partners in a child’s learning.  We have created a culture in which families feel welcome, appreciated, and valued in our school as well. We look forward to seeing you at conferences, family nights, and school events throughout the year.  We hope you will volunteer often, participate actively in our community, and consider sharing time and talents that you might have with our students, staff, and school.

We are fortunate to have a very active, supportive PTO.  The PTO works hard to fill the needs of our students and staff and provides many enjoyable experiences for them.  They cannot do this without your help. Your support of our PTO during the year helps us provide the best possible resources for our students.  We welcome new volunteers to PTO and hope you will find a way to participate.

Every school year presents a unique set of challenges, and our school staff is here to help.  We appreciate your patience and support as we navigate any challenges that may lie ahead.  Please take time to carefully read through this calendar handbook.  You will find details about our schedule, policies, and events for the year.  Please note there are many required policy notifications here.  Thank you in advance for making time to read the information in this handbook and to sign and return the attached affirmation to your child’s teacher.

We thank you in advance for your support, encouragement, involvement, and patience as we begin another school year.   I am here to support you, so please call me at 336-651-7162 if I can assist you or your child in any way.  Best wishes for a happy, healthy, and productive year of Building Brighter Futures.

Carol J Cleary, Principal
