Counseling Program
Classroom teachers are responsible for our core Social-Emotional instruction. This is done through a fantastic program called Character Strong. The lessons are on different topics like resilience, friendship, goal-setting, etc. A full list is available on request. Students are assessed in this program for individual needs just like they are in academics.
In addition to Character Strong, our School Counselor, Mr. Moore, does a Guidance Lesson one day out of the six day rotation. These lessons are skills development in character building, The Leader In Me habits, etc. Students who show Tier II or III SEL needs will receive interventions with Mr. Moore based on need. Parents will be contacted to discuss these sessions.
In addition to these resources, we are also lucky enough to have a School Based Therapist from CareNet who visits once per week based on school referral and parental agreement. If you feel your child is in need of School Based Therapy, please contact Mr. Moore-School Counselor, or Mrs. Cleary-Principal, at 336-651-7160.
